All Things Work Together For Good

Joel Osteen is one of my most favorite authors. He is a minister at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. Even presidential sister Kris Aquino reads his books!

During my down and gloomy days, when I can't help but question God why things are happening, the podcasts I downloaded on my Ipod Touch helped to encourage and enlighten me. I'm posting one of his short but very inspiring entries (promise, this would jus take less than 3 minutes to read), a reminder that God has something great for you and me.

Repost: Happy Even After

I don't keep it a secret that I'm a solo mom, on the other hand, I wear it proud like a badge. Those mothers who fortunately (or unfortunately) have husbands know the challenging world of motherhood - now double that and you would have an idea of the hardships, sacrifices and tough juggling acts that single moms like me take on a day-to-day basis. But I can also bask alone on the credit for raising my kid without her father.

This may sound cliche but to all the single moms out there, let me tell you I know exactly how you feel right now. I've been there and I've also weaved too many a scene on how to get back at my ex. Yes, I've also cried tears of pain, shame, regret and fear. The anger inside me was too deep that if words can kill, I will be spending 10 life sentences in solitary confinement.

I came across this article by Ana Santos and it hit home. Her no-nonsense survival tips on single motherhood made me laugh and because I know this will be a big help and will encourage  a growing number of brave and beautiful solo moms out there, I'm reposting it here.

A frequently asked question

I believe that before you begin blogging, you should first decide what your blog will be all about then you come up with a good name. It took me 2 cups of instant coffee and a lot of thinking before coming up with the name Barefoot Concessions. If you are like me, you might ask why the name. So here's the answer...

The return of the comeback

It has been quite some time (read: years) since I last blogged. When my old blog crashed, I asked other bloggers how to retrieve it but I gave up because I simply couldn't figure out their instructions. I hope you remember Confessions of a Drama Queen and her shallow, over-the-top but sometimes witty take on matters. She is now making a comeback - a little older (but still fabulous!) but now grounded on far more important things. I have gone through C-section and gave birth to my Mini-Me (Leia).
